Department of Pharmacognosy
Preamble:
Department of Pharmacognosy is engaged in the study of the drugs from natural products i.e plant, animals, marine and other life origins. Research areas include extraction, isolation, characterization and biological studies of phytconstituents using animal models. The department has a Research Lab equipped with modern facilities with modern instruments. It forms an important part of pharmaceutical research and development. Pharmacognosy involves the identification, physicochemical characterization, cultivation, extraction, preparation, quality control, and biological assessment of drugs. The department has innovative teaching-learning methods like Based Learning, OSPE (objectively structure Practical Examination), thematic poster sessions and student lead discussion & seminars.
