Department of Pharmacy Practice
Department of Pharmacy Practice (DPP) was established in the year 2011 with the initiation of Pharm. D (Doctor of Pharmacy) course in the college. The initiation of the course in the college was done mainly with the objective of evolving the concept of clinical pharmacy specialty through proper teaching and training such that rational patient care reaches the public. Our college had signed MOU with PVS Hospital (P) Ltd, Calicut, a 310 bedded multispecialty hospital for the training and functioning of clinical pharmacy functions for our Pharm. D students
The full-fledged functioning of the Pharmacy Practice Department was established through a Drug Information Centre (clinical pharmacy division) at PVS Hospital (P) Ltd, in November 2012. This center provides needful services to health care professionals and patients, for example, drug and therapeutic related information on request.
The staffs of the department initiated the most fundamental activities of clinical pharmacy. The activities included a medication chart review, ward rounds, drug information, adverse drug reaction monitoring, patient counseling, and patient information leaflet preparations. The clinical pharmacy services provided to the hospital and other healthcare settings of college vicinity have received good approval from other healthcare professionals as well as the public.
